Visita a Kobe-Osaka International Port Corporation (Puerto de Hanshin)

The Consul General of Panama in Japan, Alejandro de León, held a meeting with representatives of Kobe-Osaka International Port Corporation (known as Hanshin Port), a key organization established in October 2014 to manage and optimize the administration of the container and ferry terminals in the ports of Kobe and Osaka.

The visit was aimed at strengthening port cooperation and exploring new opportunities to promote trade and investment. During the meeting, the corporation’s president, Mr. Takafumi Kido, shared the significant progress made in standardizing container terminals and expanding transportation networks in the region, not only in Western Japan, but also throughout East Asia. These efforts have been instrumental in positioning Hanshin Ports as a key logistics hub for international trade.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Toshimitsu Tanaka, vice president of the corporation, and other executive directors of the entity. Consul General de León reaffirmed Panama’s commitment to strengthen the relationship with the Port of Hanshin and to advance the objectives established in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the ports of Kobe, Osaka and Panama.

Since its founding in 2014, Hanshin Port has been a key player in strengthening international trade and improving logistics efficiency in the region.

On behalf of our country, we are pleased to Welcome you to the Website of The General Consulate of Panama, in Kobe Japan.

It is an honor to serve as Consul General of this office which has its consular jurisdiction over the Fukui, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu regions.

We are located in the second metropolitan region of Japan and in one of the largest shipping centers of the world. Furthermore, we supervise and work together as a team with the office of the Panama Maritime Authority located in the city of Imabari, which is a sister city of Panama city.

Our office essentially provides Maritime and Consular Services along with the promotion of the Panamanian culture and the enhancement of the trade and academic relationships between Panama and the people, companies and institutions of western Japan.

This site aims to provide general information about our country, the Panama Merchant Marine along with other consular and cultural services that our office provides within western Japan, giving you a better understanding of the role and functions of our Office.
