The Consul General of the Republic of Panama in Kobe, Japan, Mr. Victor J. Almengor C., paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Kyoto, Mr. Takatoshi Nishiwaki.
At the meeting, Governor Nishiwaki expressed the importance of the Panama Canal to Japan and specially to the Kansai region adding into his remarks that this is the first official visit of a Panamanian diplomat to the Kyoto Prefectural Government.
Mr. Almengor conveyed the importance that the Kansai region and specially Kyoto has to Panama as the headquarters region of an important number of Japanese companies that have their regional office in Panama. Furthermore, he delivered his appreciation to the Prefectural Government for hosting several Panamanians residents within this prefecture.
At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed on enhancing the cultural and business ties and exchange between Panama and Kyoto within the near future.
