Osaka, Japan – September 6. Panama proudly celebrated its National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, in a day marked by the presence of a distinguished Panamanian delegation led by the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, accompanied by the First Lady, ministers, deputy ministers, and other high-ranking national authorities.
The official agenda began with formal ceremonies at the Expo site, where the President signed the Guest Book, followed by the traditional tea ceremony, led by Expo 2025 Commissioner General Koji Haneda.
Subsequently, the flag-raising ceremony was held at the Ray Garden, accompanied by the national anthems of Panama and Japan. The Japanese counterpart was presided over by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Fujii Hisayuki. In addition to Minister Fujii, the governor of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura; the Secretary General of the BIE, Dimitri S. Kerkentzes; the mayor of Imabari, Shigeki Tokunaga; other Japanese authorities, parliament, chamber of commerce, maritime sector, among other guests, were present.
Following speeches by both heads of delegation, the program continued with two cultural presentations. Panama was represented by a folk group from the Ministry of Culture, while Japan presented a cultural event organized by the city of Imabari, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations and ties between cities.
