The Consul General Participates as Guest of Honor at the Opening of the “Beyond the Horizon” Maritime Exhibition in Kobe 

Kobe, Japan — May 15, 2026. The Consul General attended the opening ceremony of the maritime photography exhibition “Beyond the Horizon” as a guest of honor; the event was dedicated to recognizing and highlighting the work of seafarers and their contribution to the international maritime sector. 

During the event, organizers invited the Consul General to leave a message for the participants and the exhibition audience. His written statement highlighted the human and professional value of seafarers, underscoring their essential role in global connectivity and the functioning of international trade. It also emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives that bring the public closer to the reality of maritime work, fostering greater appreciation for those operating on the industry’s front lines. The message was warmly received by organizers and attendees alike, contributing positively to Panama’s institutional presence in maritime-related activities within the Kansai region. 

The prestigious event was attended by major regional shipowners and high-ranking officials from the City of Kobe, establishing itself as a key meeting point for the local maritime sector. During the formal proceedings, the Consul General had the honor of participating in the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially inaugurated the exhibition, reaffirming the diplomatic mission’s strong standing and its close relationship with industry leaders and the Japanese port community.

On behalf of our country, we are pleased to Welcome you to the Website of The General Consulate of Panama, in Kobe Japan.

It is an honor to serve as Consul General of this office which has its consular jurisdiction over the Fukui, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu regions.

We are located in the second metropolitan region of Japan and in one of the largest shipping centers of the world. Furthermore, we supervise and work together as a team with the office of the Panama Maritime Authority located in the city of Imabari, which is a sister city of Panama city.

Our office essentially provides Maritime and Consular Services along with the promotion of the Panamanian culture and the enhancement of the trade and academic relationships between Panama and the people, companies and institutions of western Japan.

This site aims to provide general information about our country, the Panama Merchant Marine along with other consular and cultural services that our office provides within western Japan, giving you a better understanding of the role and functions of our Office.
