Strengthening Maritime Bonds: Exploring Opportunities in Osaka for Panama-Japan Cooperation

In our last official day at Osaka we visited the land reclamation project at Shinto island in which the General Director of Ports and Ancillary Industries, Mrs. Flor Pitty (Eng.) had the opportunity to learn the regulations and technical aspects involving this project.

Following this visit, our General Director of Ports was received by the Vice Governor of Osaka, Mr. Takekazu Morioka along with the Director of the Osaka Ports and Harbors Bureau, Mr. Junya Maruyama for a brief courtesy meeting followed by an exchange of ideas on how to further advance the port partnership relation between Osaka and the Ports of the Republic of Panama.

At the end of the day we visited the Tsunami and Disaster Prevention facility on which our delegation received an explanation in relation to the disaster and tsunami measures taken by Osaka city and prefectural government for the safety of their people, infraestructures and ports.

Our National Government has the commitment of establishing new ways of cooperation and exchange with Osaka and the Kansai region for the benefit of Panama and Japan.🇵🇦🇯🇵

En nuestra ultimo dia de mision oficial en Osaka visitamos el proyecto de reclamación de terreno en la isla Shinto donde la Directora de Puertos e Industrias Maritimas Auxiliares de la Autoridad Marítima de Panamá, Ing. Flor Pitty tuvo la oportunidad de escuchar las regulaciones y aspectos técnicos relacionados a este proyecto.

Seguido de esta visita, nuestra Directora de Puertos fue recibida por el Vice Gobernador de Osaka, H.S. Takekazu Morioka junto al Director de Puertos de Osaka, Sr. Junya Mariyama para una visita de cortesía seguida de una reunión de intercambio de opiniones sobre como avanzar aún más el acuerdo de afiliación portuaria entre los puertos de Osaka y Panamá.

Al final del dia asistimos al Centro de Prevención de Tsunamis y desastres donde la delegación recibió una explicación sobre las medidas tomadas por la ciudad y prefectura de Osaka para la seguridad de las personas, infraestructuras y puertos.

Nuestro Gobierno Nacional tiene el compromiso de establecer nuevas vías de cooperación e intercambio con Osaka y la región de Kansai para el beneficio de Panamá y Japón.

It is an honor to serve as Consul General of this office which has its consular jurisdiction over the Fukui, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu regions.

We are located in the second metropolitan region of Japan and in one of the largest shipping centers of the world. Furthermore, we supervise and work together as a team with the office of the Panama Maritime Authority located in the city of Imabari, which is a sister city of Panama city.

Our office essentially provides Maritime and Consular Services along with the promotion of the Panamanian culture and the enhancement of the trade and academic relationships between Panama and the people, companies and institutions of western Japan.

This site aims to provide general information about our country, the Panama Merchant Marine along with other consular and cultural services that our office provides within western Japan, giving you a better understanding of the role and functions of our Office.
