Kobe, Japan – September to November 2025. In an effort to strengthen academic and cultural ties between Panama and Japan, the Consulate General of Panama in Kobe organized a series of visits to schools and universities in the Kansai and Shikoku regions. During the months of September, October, and November, representatives from the Consulate gave presentations at educational institutions such as Kobe Gakuin University, Osaka University, Kobe University, and Sanda Gakuen High School, as well as at a secondary school in the city of Imabari.
During these sessions, students participated in classes on the history of Panama, with special emphasis on the Panama Canal, and received Spanish lessons. They also enjoyed folkloric presentations featuring traditional Panamanian dances, which illustrated the country’s cultural richness. In addition, global issues such as the Panamanian economy, international trade, and Panama’s maritime importance were addressed, highlighting the Republic’s relevance as a key player in the shipping industry.
These academic visits are in response to memoranda of understanding (MOU) signed between Panamanian and Japanese institutions, and aim to spread knowledge about Panama among Japanese youth, reinforcing a friendly and lasting bond between both nations. The activities also raise awareness of Panamanian identity and promote intellectual and cultural exchange in an educational environment.
