La Rep\u00fablica de Panam\u00e1 fue reelegida hoy con 148 votos a favor de la Categor\u00eda A del Consejo de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI) durante la 34.\u00aa Asamblea celebrada en Londres. Este s\u00f3lido apoyo internacional destaca una vez m\u00e1s la importancia estrat\u00e9gica del pa\u00eds en el sector mar\u00edtimo mundial y su firme compromiso con el fortalecimiento de la OMI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Este logro refleja la sostenida y eficaz labor diplom\u00e1tica de la Misi\u00f3n Permanente de Panam\u00e1 ante la OMI, realizada en estrecha coordinaci\u00f3n con la Autoridad Mar\u00edtima de Panam\u00e1 (AMP) y el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores. Juntos, trabajaron activamente para consolidar el respaldo de los Estados Miembros y reforzar el liderazgo de Panam\u00e1 en el \u00e1mbito mar\u00edtimo internacional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En las \u00faltimas semanas, la Misi\u00f3n Permanente de Panam\u00e1 lider\u00f3 una intensa campa\u00f1a diplom\u00e1tica enfocada en fortalecer alianzas estrat\u00e9gicas y obtener el apoyo de los Estados Miembros de la OMI. Este resultado est\u00e1 respaldado por hechos innegables, como el papel clave del Canal de Panam\u00e1 en las rutas comerciales globales, el liderazgo del pa\u00eds como el mayor registro de buques del mundo y su compromiso con los m\u00e1s altos est\u00e1ndares internacionales en seguridad, protecci\u00f3n ambiental y transparencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durante la Asamblea, la delegaci\u00f3n paname\u00f1a, encabezada por el Secretario General de la AMP, Volney Guinard; el Director General de Marina Mercante, Ram\u00f3n Franco; y la Embajadora y Representante Permanente ante la OMI, Ginette Testa, sostuvo reuniones de alto nivel con autoridades mar\u00edtimas de Estados Unidos, Grecia, B\u00e9lgica y Singapur. Estas conversaciones mostraron los avances de Panam\u00e1 en el perfeccionamiento de su flota, el fortalecimiento de la supervisi\u00f3n operativa y las mejoras en el desempe\u00f1o del control por el Estado rector del puerto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panam\u00e1 contin\u00faa reafirmando su identidad como una aut\u00e9ntica naci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima, con una econom\u00eda, cultura y desarrollo profundamente vinculados al mar. Su privilegiada posici\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica, combinada con el Canal de Panam\u00e1, que moviliza cerca del 6 % del comercio mar\u00edtimo mundial, y sus puertos en ambos oc\u00e9anos, fortalece las cadenas log\u00edsticas globales al conectar eficientemente m\u00e1s de 180 rutas mar\u00edtimas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Registro de Buques de Panam\u00e1 se mantiene como el m\u00e1s grande del mundo, con m\u00e1s de 8,700 buques y 238 millones de toneladas brutas, operando a trav\u00e9s de una plataforma moderna, digital y transparente alineada con los est\u00e1ndares internacionales de seguridad y eficiencia en el transporte mar\u00edtimo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Con su reelecci\u00f3n a la Categor\u00eda A del Consejo de la OMI, Panam\u00e1 contin\u00faa desempe\u00f1ando un papel de liderazgo en la configuraci\u00f3n de la pol\u00edtica mar\u00edtima mundial y contribuyendo al desarrollo de un transporte m\u00e1s seguro y eficiente en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
