Arsenio Dom\u00ednguez, Secretario General de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mar\u00edtima Internacional (OMI), realiz\u00f3 una visita oficial a la Autoridad Mar\u00edtima de Panam\u00e1 (AMP) en el marco de su primera misi\u00f3n al pa\u00eds desde que asumi\u00f3 el cargo en enero de 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fue recibido por Luis Roquebert, administrador de la PMA, junto con los directores y subdirectores de la instituci\u00f3n. \u00abEstoy encantado de estar aqu\u00ed. Esta es una instituci\u00f3n que llevo muy en el coraz\u00f3n, tras haber trabajado aqu\u00ed durante m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os\u00bb, coment\u00f3 Dom\u00ednguez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El momento culminante de la visita fue el foro \u201cEmpoderamiento de las mujeres en el sector mar\u00edtimo: un llamado a la acci\u00f3n en materia de capacitaci\u00f3n, visibilidad y reconocimiento para el desarrollo sostenible\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El evento enfatiz\u00f3 la importancia de seguir ampliando la participaci\u00f3n de las mujeres en una industria dominada tradicionalmente por los hombres. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las oportunidades de capacitaci\u00f3n y liderazgo, el foro enfatiz\u00f3 la necesidad de destacar las contribuciones de las mujeres y garantizar condiciones justas en el sector mar\u00edtimo, un sector que desempe\u00f1a un papel fundamental en la econom\u00eda global. Tanto la OMI como la AMP coincidieron en que promover la igualdad de g\u00e9nero es clave para impulsar la sostenibilidad, la innovaci\u00f3n y la competitividad del transporte mar\u00edtimo internacional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junto al Secretario General, en el panel participaron Rina Berrocal, Subdirectora General de Marina Mercante; Marta Aparicio, Directora General de Registro P\u00fablico de la Propiedad de Buques; y Pilar Castillo, Vicepresidenta de la C\u00e1mara Mar\u00edtima de Panam\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cValoro mucho escuchar las perspectivas e iniciativas que se est\u00e1n planteando, as\u00ed como el compromiso de fortalecer y mostrar la eficiencia del registro de buques m\u00e1s grande del mundo por n\u00famero de buques abanderados\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 Dom\u00ednguez al cierre del evento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esta visita forma parte de una agenda m\u00e1s amplia que lidera el Secretario General de la OMI en Panam\u00e1, que incluye reuniones de alto nivel con el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, la AMP, la Autoridad del Canal de Panam\u00e1, la Universidad Mar\u00edtima Internacional de Panam\u00e1 y diversas asociaciones de la industria mar\u00edtima, impulsando los temas prioritarios de su mandato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
