Developing the relationship with important trade organizations of Kansai within the framework of the 62nd Kansai Economic and Management Summit.

Within the activities of the 62nd Kansai Economic and Management Summit, organized by the Kansai Economic Federation (Kankeiren) and the Kansai Association of Corporate Executives, the Consul General of the Republic of Panama in Kobe, Japan, Mr. Victor J. Almengor C., had the opportunity to exchange words with the chairpersons of important trade organizations of the region of Kansai.

First, the Consul General exchanged words with the chairperson of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Mr. Shingo Torii (Suntory Holdings) for his support on the organization of a trade seminar about Panama for their members last year, which was delivered online by the General Administrator of Pro Panama, H.E. Carmen Gisela Vergara and the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama in Japan, H.E. Carlos Pere.

Mr. Torii expressed his appreciation for the important efforts of the Consul General to open paths for commercial opportunities and possibilities in Panama and Latin America for the members of OCCI and wished well to Mr. Almengor after finishing his term in office.

Furthermore, the Consul General also exchanged few words with Mr. Hiroya Kawasaki (KOBELCO), Chairperson of the Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) before the delivery of his final remarks at the Kansai Economic and Management Summit. During their exchange, Consul General Almengor expressed also his gratitude for the support given by KCCI for the trade conference about Panama delivered last year by ProPanama agency in the city of Kobe which gathered important members of KCCI.

Both KCCI and OCCI are important trade organizations of Kansai with some members having already regional or representative offices in Panama.

It is an honor to serve as Consul General of this office which has its consular jurisdiction over the Fukui, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu regions.

We are located in the second metropolitan region of Japan and in one of the largest shipping centers of the world. Furthermore, we supervise and work together as a team with the office of the Panama Maritime Authority located in the city of Imabari, which is a sister city of Panama city.

Our office essentially provides Maritime and Consular Services along with the promotion of the Panamanian culture and the enhancement of the trade and academic relationships between Panama and the people, companies and institutions of western Japan.

This site aims to provide general information about our country, the Panama Merchant Marine along with other consular and cultural services that our office provides within western Japan, giving you a better understanding of the role and functions of our Office.
